“Sorry, my story is not unique and you can come across similar ones elsewhere.”
“Sorry, I haven’t well prepared for it and it kinda suck …”
“Sorry, my life story is so boring and I have nothing worth sharing.”
“Sorry …”
No, please stop making excuses. Your story is worth sharing and inspiring. You may not realize how your story gonna change somebody’s life; or at least give them hope and energy to move on.
So, below is my story, and I do know it’s not perfect. It needs fine-tuning over and over again.
Yet, I decide to share my story first and invite you guys to be brave enough to be the next one to share:
~~~
Back in 2019, one night, while I was checking the emails, accidently, I opened an email from Spam inbox. That email informed me a film-making competition which its prize is to win a trip to New Zealand and get my short film screened at Embassy Theater, the place where the movie Hobbit premiered.
Nothing comes easy as due date is the next 5 days. I only have 5 days left to make a short film from scratch. Not to mention, it was a high season to the advertising agency, and I was stuck with 3,4 projects running at the same time. We had to prepare materials in advance for the upcoming big events like Christmas and Tet holiday.
Ideally, I work from 10am to 6pm. Yet, with so many deadlines needed to meet, working till 9pm is a must-have.
It would have been understandable and easy for me to quit, as I had no times and was unprepared. Yet, something inside me urged me, pushed me to take the challenge. This challenge is doable, as what I need is an idea, record some footages, and combined them to a short video to illustrate the idea.
And in the end, I took the challenge.
As I was in short of time, I couldn’t do a thorough research to the topic of the competition. Instead, I was looking for the winners from last years to get to know the taste of jury.
I noticed one thing which was quite interesting, people marked number on each tree around the city. And the Amazon rainforest wildfires was still a world topic of interest. Therefore, my idea was just to emphasize the importance of trees though 60 trees with marked number from 1 to 60, equivalent to the times I require the viewer to hold their breath while watching it.
And guess what, 4 weeks later, I was announced a winner!
So, yeah, sometimes in life, something is thrown at you while you are in short of time and unprepared. You can choose to quit, which is quite easy. But, if you take the challenge, it’s very likely that you can achieve the same thing what I have achieve. Go for it.
A big thanks to the coaches and amazing team members in the class who have listened carefully to me and given me constructive feedback. I am so thankful to all of you. Thank you again.
And, above is my story. I have chosen to be brave to step out of comfort zone and share with you guys my life story already.
So, what’s about yours? I can’t wait to read or hear your story.
Go for it. Say it.
